The Color Of A Pure Heart

Colors are very important in our human life. Sometimes, we take the reality of colors for granted. The Lord also identifies colors with some realities- the color of the sin is scarlet; the color of a pure heart is white. Black and darkness are for the evil one. Light refers to God. Unfortunately, some of us tend to go too far and judge people by their color and thus, we can be misled. We presume that fair complexioned people are more beautiful than dark complexioned ones; good spirit as white and evil as black and ugly. This is wrong because we judge from appearances.

But the Lord also tells us that what is of supreme importance is what other people can't see- a pure heart.

Let's meditate on two graces. The first one is grace that we may all be blessed with a pure heart. People who wear the habit of  the religious are not exactly better than lay people. Clothes are merely external elements. What the Lord counts on is the purity of heart.

The other grace is the purity of sight. When our hearts are pure, we'll be able to see and realize that what is essential is invisible to the eye.
