Embrace Failure Temporarily


Nobody wants to fail. We all strive for success, but many people who work diligently to become successful fail along the way. One of the biggest secrets to success is not avoiding failure but rather embracing it.

A man who made a long-term study of highly successful men in various fields noted they had only one trait in common: PERSISTENCE. They kept picking themselves up returning to the fight long after most men would have given up.

He has failed in business at 22, He was defeated for the state legislature at  23. He failed again in business at 24. He had a nervous breakdown at 27. He hoped to receive his party's nomination for Congress but didn't in 29. He ran for the Senate and lost at 31. He was defeated again and again  in a bid for public office at  34, 46, 47, and 49. A hopeless loser, some people said. But Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States in 1860 at age 51.  He knew how to accept defeat temporarily.

People who fear making mistakes never become successful people. People who are frightened by failure are also afraid to take risks. Although failure is frequently the end of something. Lincoln's experience proves that it can often be the great beginning of something better.

Make it a habit to do the things you are fear, and you'll eventually reach the point where you aren't afraid of anything. Every failure eventually becomes a stepping stone to...
