Typhoon Pedring

Four days ago, Typhoon Pedring (internationally named "Nesat") was raging through Metro Manila and Luzon. Packing center winds 120 kph and gusts of up to 150kph, this howler was unleashing its fury like an angry beast. The strong winds were ripping off the roots of many houses, rendering thousands of people homeless. GI (Galvanized Iron) sheets were flying everywhere like so many kites.  Shanties, billboards, neon lights, fallen trees were strewn  in many sections in Metro Manila like baywalk in Roxas Boulevard, and parts of Northern Luzon, specifically Aurora  and Isabela.

The rampaging  flood waters  have prompted the evacuation of 21,000 families to higher ground. Pedring has injured  scores of people and has killed  more than 30 , and 41 were still missing. Damage to infrastructure, farm  and fisheries continue to rise. While I am writing this, another typhoon (Quiel with international name "Nalgae") is battering our country.
